Ilkay Nehir Tanyel, Ph.D.

Ilkay “Nehir” Tanyel is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems and Cyber Security in the College of AI, Cyber, and Computing at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She earned her Ph.D. in Information Systems at the University of Cincinnati. Nehir's research examines how digital technologies, particularly social media, shape social, political, and economic challenges. She is currently working on several projects that examine polarization, digital labor, and harm prevention on social media.  Nehir's work has been published in the Information Systems Journal, and presented at several International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), with papers included in the conference proceedings. Her work are currently under review at top journals in information systems.

When she’s not buried under mounds of data and research papers, Nehir loves to travel and explore different cuisines. She is currently exploring food options in San Antonio.
